September 30th is our National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. So, Toronto Oasis will be focusing on related topics throughout this month.
This Sunday, our featured speaker will be Tim Mt. Pleasant. Tim has been working on some articles about the Indian Residential School System, set to be published sometime this month in partnership with the Canadian Encyclopedia, Woodland Cultural Centre, and Survivors Secretariat for Truth and Reconciliation Month.
Tim Mt. Pleasant, a regular Toronto Oasis participant, is a member of the Tuscarora Nation at Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation. Tim graduated with distinction from Ryerson University’s Honours Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy program in 2021. He recently participated in postgraduate research training at McGill University, where he served on the Advisory Council on Human Research Ethics and the Research Ethics Board.
